The Highway Code

The Highway Code is essential reading for everyone. Its rules apply to all road users: drivers, motorcyclists, cyclists, pedestrians as well as horse riders.
Many of the rules in the Code are legal requirements, and if you disobey these rules you are committing a criminal offence and The Highway Code may be used in evidence in any court proceedings under Traffic Acts to establish liability.

Road Safety Scotland

Road Safety Scotland was formerly known as the Scottish Road Safety Campaign and was founded in 1985. It is funded by the Scottish Executive to develop and co-ordinate Scotland’s wide road safety initiatives and campaigns. Road Safety Scotland works closely with all local authority and police road safety units in an attempt to ensure a co-ordinated approach to road safety in Scotland.

Parliamentary Advisory Council for Transport Safety (PACTS)

The Parliamentary Advisory Council for Transport Safety (PACTS) is a registered charity and an associate Parliamentary Group. Its charitable objective is "To promote transport safety legislation to protect human life". Its aim is to advise and inform members of the House of Commons and of the House of Lords on air, rail and road safety issues. It brings together safety professionals and legislators to identify research-based solutions to transport safety problems having regard to cost, effectiveness, achievability and acceptability.

RoadPeace

RoadPeace is a UK national charity set up in February 1992 that is dedicated to supporting bereaved and injured road crash victims. RoadPeace works for road safety - to reduce the causes of road crashes and make sure that lessons are learnt to prevent similar deaths and injuries from occurring. RoadPeace works with many transport campaigning and social justice groups and is a founder member of the Safer Streets Coalition, the Slower Speeds Initiative and Children and Traffic Coalition. It also researches and documents the experiences of road crash victims, using the findings to inform and influence policy makers, agencies, the media and the public.

Make Roads Safe Campaign

Association of Chief Police Officers in Scotland
